English clergyman and author. After he presented his ideas for the design of a school system in Russia to a Dr. Dumaresq, who forwarded them to the Russian Empress, the Empress invited Brown to visit St. Petersburg; but Brown was persuaded not to go because of his health, and his ideas for the Russian educational system came to nothing.
