Cornelius Burges or Burgess (1589?-1665) entered Oxford University in 1611. His first college is unknown, but he transferred to Wadham, and then Lincoln College (B.A, 1615; M.A., 1618). He was appointed vicar of Watford, Hertfordshire, in 1613. He retained this living on becoming rector of St Magnus, London Bridge, in 1626, and served as rector until 1641. Burges died at Watford, and was buried in the church there on 9 June 1665.
