Charles M. Stotz was a prominent architect and proponent of historic preservation in Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania. Stotz's interest in historic preservation prompted his work on "The early architecture of western Pennsylvania" and "Outposts of the war for empire." In addition, Stotz worked on restoration projects at Fort Pitt, Fort Ligonier, and Old Economy Village.
