Stegley Foundation.

Hide Profile

The Stegley Foundation was a private philanthropic trust set up in 1973 by Brian and Shelagh Stegley, the founders of Stegbar Windows. Initially the Foundation directed funding towards disability, Aboriginal well-being, and older people, which was quite revolutionary at the time. The Foundation was always to have a limited life, as capital itself rather than interest derived from it was disbursed to organisations. During the 1970's the Stegley's children Sarah, Brian and Kristin took primary roles within the Foundation and since 1979 they have distributed approximately $7 million to Victorian charities and community groups, with the aim of "increasing social justice through structural change". The lifespan of the Foundation came to an end in August 2001.
