Joosse, Barbara M.

Barbara M(onnot) Joosse was born February 18, 1949, and grew up in Grafton, Wisconsin. She received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. Her first published book, The Thinking Place (1982), won the Picture Book Award, Council of Wisconsin Writers (1983). Material for her stories comes from both her own childhood memories as well as from the experiences of her children and she likes to make a child feel like a hero in the books.
