Rev. John Flynn joined the Home Missions staff of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1902. The activities of the Australian Inland Mission in the Northern Territory and adjacent sparsley populated areas were initiated and directed by Flynn for 39 years. In 1928 he founded the Aerial Medical Service (Flying Doctor Service).
