Niall Roberts (1922-2010) was a civil servant who first became interested in mills when Wimbledon Common windmill, close to his home in New Malden, was restored and opened as a mill museum in 1976. He and his wife Julie acted as weekend guides, and Niall became an active member of the SPAB Mills Section and TIMS. Niall wrote numerous research papers, his main interests being sugar mills and millstones. For a longer biography of Niall Roberts, see the Profiles section of our website.
