Society for Music Theory.
Variant namesThe Society of Music Theory was created in 1977. The Society branched off from the American Musicological Society to fulfill a need for a national Music Theory Society. SMT holds annual meetings at different universities and publishes the SMT Newsletter and the Music Theory Spectrum.
