Julius Brown was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Brown. He was educated at the University of Georgia and Harvard Law School.
He served as a Confederate Soldier with the Georgia Cadets and was later an attorney with the Western and Atlantic Railroad as well as several Georgia mining companies.
