Sieben, Sr., was state liquor control commissioner 1955-1961) and was a candidate for Congress, Second Congressional District (1950). Harry A. Sieben, Jr., also was a member of the state legislature (District 52B) was first elected to that post in 1970 and held the position of Speaker of the House from 1981 to 1984 when he retired.
