Began in 1915 as the Nevada State Racing Commission, given the power to prescribe rules, regulations and conditions on the conduct of horse-racing and to inspect books of [racing] associations, it became the Nevada Racing Commission in 1951.
In 1993 the Legislature eliminated the Commission, transferring responsibilities for licensing and regulation of certain events involving horse racing or greyhound racing to the Nevada Gaming Commission.
