Anna Mae McCabe Hays was a United States (U.S.) Army officer and nurse. She entered the Army in 1942. In September, 1967 Hays was appointed chief of the Army Nurse Corps. She was promoted to brigadier general in 1970 as the first woman in the armed services to attain that rank.
