Maxwell, Thomas, 1792-1867
Variant namesBorn at Tioga Point (Athens), Pa.; grew up in Newtown Point (Elmira), N.Y. Veteran of the War of 1812; served in U.S. House of Representatives from 1829-1831. Later became an attorney; moved to Geneva, N.Y. upon his appointment as deputy clerk of the state supreme court. Father of Harriet Maxwell Converse, author and American Indian advocate.
