Variant namesLois Duncan is a writer, magazine photographer, and instructor in the Dept. of Journalism, University of New Mexico. She won the Seventeen Magazine annual short story contest three times in high school, and went on to garner many awards including the Writer's Digest Creative Writing Contest (1970), Library of Congress Best Books citation (1981), Child Study Assn. Children's Books of the Year citation (1986), the Margaret A. Edwards Award (School Library Journal/YA, 1991) for body of work.
