Edgar Denision was an engineer. He was an expert amateur botanist and naturalist and the author of a standard field guide, "Missouri Wildflowers." His interests included painting and photography. He taught botany and conservation, and he maintained a magnificent wildflower garden at his home in Kirkwood, Missouri.
