Hide Profile

Byron Lowell Donalds (born October 28, 1978) is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 19th congressional district since 2021. He is a member of the Republican Party.

Born and raised in the Crown Heights neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn, New York, he graduated from Nazareth Regional High School in East Flatbush. After attending Florida A&M University from 1996 to 1999, Donalds earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and marketing from Florida State University in 2002. Prior to entering politics, Donalds worked in the finance, insurance, and banking industries.

After becoming politically involved as a participant in the Tea Party movement, Donalds was encouraged to run for office. After finishing fifth in a field of six candidates running for the Republican nomination for Florida's 19th congressional district in 2012 and foregoing a run for the 19th district in 2014, Donalds was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016, serving there until 2020.

Narrowly winning the Republican nomination for Florida's 19th congressional district in 2020, Donalds easily won the general election that November in the heavily Republican district.
