Grant, James Hope
Variant namesGeneral. His career represents an experience of India and China warfare known to few. Was in Umballa in May 1857 at the outbreak of the Mutiny and played an important part in its suppression. In 1860 was appointed to command the expedition sent out to China in conjunction with the French.
