Born in Dieppe, France on January 3, 1618, Jean Crasset was a member of the Society of Jesus, a professor of humanities and philosophy, and a successful preacher in Paris. He joined the Jesuits in 1638 and was the author of many ascetical texts, including Methode d'oraison; Considerariones chretiennes pour tous les hours de l'annee; La chretienne in solitude; and Histoire de l'eglise du japon. Crasset died in Paris on January 4, 1692.
