Gaar Williams was born in Richmond, Ind. He worked as an artist and cartoonist for newspapers in Chicago and Indianapolis, and some of his work was nationally syndicated. Toward the end of his life, he spent much of his time in Brown County, Ind., mailing his work from there.
Blanche Stillson, born in Indianapolis, was an artist, author, and cultural leader. She taught art in Indianapolis schools and universities, and was especially known for her illustrations, woodcuts and paintings.
