James Street, southern writer and journalist, began his career as a reporter in Laurel, Mississippi at the age of 14. During the intervening years before his first novel was published he worked as a correspondent for the Associated Press in virtually every major city in the South, including Atlanta. Street, who wrote several historical novels, is also well-known as a prolific short story writer. He was a regular contributor to Colliers and Cosmopolitan for many years, as well as several other major magazines.
