Tyers, C. J. (Charles James), 1806-1870
Variant namesCharles James Tyers was a navigator and sailing master with the Royal Navy, then became a surveyor in the Australian colonies. He was appointed surveyor in charge of the Portland District in 1841, and surveyed the Portland and Gippsland areas.
