Darienne Page Rakestraw is the Midwest Community Affairs Manager for Lyft Inc. In her role, she focuses on community engagement strategies to build a diverse coalition of local non-profits, community organizations and trade associations in Lyft's markets across the Midwest. These initiatives create scalable rapid response and long-term grassroots engagement at the local, state, and national levels. Prior to her work with Lyft, Darienne specialized in Veterans and Military engagement. She has worked at all levels of government to increase economic opportunities for servicemembers, Veterans and their families and to develop outreach initiatives for corporate recruitment and retention of high caliber Veteran employees. Darienne previously served under President Barack Obama, first as the West Wing Receptionist, and then as the White House Director of Veterans, Wounded Warriors and Military Families Outreach. While at the White House, she acted as a direct link between the administration and the Veterans community. She advised the administration’s efforts in Veterans engagement and provided support on policy efforts, including the First Lady and Dr. Biden’s Joining Forces initiative. Darienne is a former U.S. Army noncommissioned officer and an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Darienne and her husband, London reside in Chicago with their two daughters, Dylan and Dawson.
