Welby, Reginald Earle Welby, Baron, 1832-1915
Variant namesReginald Earle Welby, 1832-1915, was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. He entered the Treasury in 1856, becoming Assistant Financial Secretary of the Treasury in 1880, Auditor of the Civil List in 1881, and Permanent Secretary of the Treasury, 1885-1894. He was also a commissioner of the 1851 Exhibition, and Chairman of London County Council in 1900.
