Frederick George Bromberg was born in New York City, 19 June 1837, and moved with his parents to Mobile, Alabama, in 1838. He graduated from Harvard University in 1858, and studied and tutored there, 1861-1865.
Bromberg held a number of political positions in Mobile following the Civil War: treasurer of Mobile, 1867-1869; state senator, 1868-1872; postmaster of Mobile, 1869-1871; and U.S. Representative, 1873-1875. He was a Liberal Republican.
Bromberg was admitted to the bar in 1877 and began practicing in Mobile. He remained an active lawyer in his own office, and served as president of the state bar in 1906. He died in Mobile, 4 September 1930.
