Lawton, Henry Ware, 1843-1899
Variant namesU.S. Army officer; served with distinction in the Civil War, Apache War, Spanish-American War, and was the only U.S. general officer to be killed during the Philippine-American War; city of Lawton, Okla., takes its name from General Lawton.
