Mackie, Pat, 1914-2009
Variant namesBorn in New Zealand (as Eugene Markey) c.1916, Mackie had many jobs, and spent several years in Canada and the U.S.A. taking out Canadian citizenship. In 1961 he joined Mount Isa Mines as a timberman. In 1964 he became chairman to the local section of the A.W.U. The dispute at Mt. Isa 1964-1965 was triggered by his dismissal in October 1964.
