Edward Staunton West was born in Stuart, Virginia on September 9, 1896. He was educated at Randolph-Macon University, Kansas State College (M.D.), and the University of Chicago (Ph.D., Organic Chemistry, 1923). Chair of the Dept. of Biochemistry at University of Oregon Medical School, 1934-1966. Died in 1988. Charles T. Dotter, M.D., is considered the father of interventional radiology. He was chairman of the Dept. of Diagnostic Radiology at UOMS from 1952 until his death in 1985.
