Mechanical engineer. Born in Norway. Came to United States in 1881. Became associated in 1899 with Frederick W. Taylor, the father of scientific management. Developed slide rules and other instruments used in the application of Taylor's principles. Conducted his own consulting business with his son, J. Christian Barth.
