Williams, Vera B.
Variant namesVera Williams was born on January 28, 1927 in Hollywood, California. She earned her B.A. from Black Mountain College, Black Mountain, North Carolina, in 1949. She has been a writer of children's books since 1975. She has also been an educator and teacher, including co-founding the Collaberg School in Stony Point, New York, an alternative school for children. Her books have been awarded the Caldecott Honor Book, Notable Book by the American Library Association and the Best Illustrated Book of the Year by the New York Times .
