Radiophysicist and radio astronomer. Research physicist, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Australia (later the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) Division of Radiophysics 1940-1962, and assistant chief from 1952. In 1962 his was appointed Director of the U. S. National Radio Astronomy Observatory but died before taking office.
