Batty, Robert, 1763?-1849
Variant namesRobert Batty was born in 1762 or 1763, and he received his medical education in London and Edinburgh. He graduated MD from the University of St Andrews in 1797 and became an obstetric physician in London. He was a licentiate in midwifery from the Royal College of Physicians (RCP)in 1800 and licentiate of RCP in 1804. Batty was physician to the maternity hospital, Brownlow Street, and later was editor of the Medical and Physical Journal. An amateur artist, he exhibited at the Royal Academy, 1788-1797, and died in 1849.
