Biography

Eddie Hearn (b. 1913) came to UCLA in 1947 and was a founding member of the UCLA Theater Arts Department; served as theater consultant to Charles Luckman and Associates, Los Angeles architectural firm, 1962-63, and was largely responsible for the UCLA Macgowan Hall production facilities; retired from UCLA, June 30, 1978; designed or consulted on theaters around the world and was responsible for the continental seating concept installed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion in Los Angeles; he was also involved in the design of both the Japan America Theater in Los Angeles and the UC Santa Barbara campus theater; he died of cancer April 22, 1987.
