Jacqueline Ayer was born the 2nd of May 1930 in New York City. She began her education at the Art Students League in New York, proceeded by a time spent at Syracuse University and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, France. Her illustrative forte is in fashion illustration, starting a small division within the International Basic Economy Corp as a fabric and fashion designer. She was also a consultant and head fashion designer in London for many years. Contributing over ten pieces of literature and illustrations, Ayer was awarded a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. Her work with Harcourt includes illustration of the Grimm Brother's Rumpelstiltskin in 1967 and the self-illustrated A Wish for Little Sister published in 1960.
