Robert Wallace was a British author, preacher, and politician. He was born in Scotland, and studied at St. Andrews before teaching private families and the classics. He continued his ecclesiastical studies at Edinburgh and Glasgow, and was licensed to preach in 1857. His support of worship reform was controversial, and he eventually left the church to edit the Scotsman, and was elected to the House of Commons. He published numerous newspaper articles, in addition to his generally controversial works on religion.
