Maurer was born ca. 1926; started his career as cartoonist for Lev Gleason Publications; illustrated Daredevil comics, Boy comics, among others and wrote comic books including three series of Three Stooges comics and ghost writing on Dennis the menace comic books; co-created the first 3-D comics; joined Columbia Pictures (1956) and produced films including The Three stooges meet Hercules and Who's minding the mint; wrote stories for four of Columbia's Three Stooges features and produced and directed several Stooges pilots; joined Hanna-Barbera (1975) as writer and story editor; worked as consultant for animated cartoon series at CBS (1978-79) and NBC (1980); died Nov. 23, 1986 in Los Angeles, CA.
