Marshall Sklare was one of the first major sociologists of America's Jews and member of the Dept. of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University. He previously worked at the American Jewish Committee and also taught at Yeshiva University and Princeton Theological Seminary. Professor Sklare wrote many books on issues dealing with Jews and Judaism in the United States. Professor Sklare developed and directed Brandeis' Center for Modern Jewish Studies which opened in 1980.
