Alfredo Jahn Hartman (1867-1940) was a botanist, geographer, historian, geologist, anthropologist, and archeologist. He was born on October 8, 1867, in Venezuela. Jahn classified many plants of Venezuela and wrote a book, The Palms of the Flora Venezuelana, in 1908. Jahn was a founding member of the Sociedad Venzolana de Ciencias Naturales (Venezuelan Society of Natural Sciences), serving as its president between 1935 and 1937. He died on June 12, 1940.
