John Volkmann (b. 1906) earned his Harvard AB 1927, AM 1929, and Ph.D. 1931. He taught at Harvard for a few years after completing his Ph.D.; he also worked in the Psycho-Acoustic Laboratory at Harvard during World War II. He was a professor at Mount Holyoke College from 1946-1971.
