J.Q.A. Nadenbousch of Martinsburg, Berkeley County, W. Va., was a carpenter and the proprietor of a lumber yard, and was instrumental in forming the Berkeley Border Guards, a pre-Civil War local militia unit. After serving in the Confederate Army, Nadenbousch returned to Martinsburg and worked as a miller, distiller, and hotel proprietor.
