Author. Born March 26, 1909, in Washington, D.C., died 1994 in Dunedin, Florida. A child prodigy, Carr was published in national magazines at the age of 15 and published his first novel, The Rampant Age (1928), at 17. He only authored two more novels, The Bells of Saint Ivan's (1944), and The Room Beyond. Science fiction works, Beyond Infinity (1951), a collection of stories, and Invaders (1954), were published later. Carr was a prominent proponent of Unidentified Flying Objects and is alleged to have perpetrated major hoaxes, including the notion that alien bodies were recovered from a UFO crash and autopsied by the U.S. government.
