Blair, William Wylie, 1827-1916

William Wylie Blair entered Indiana University in 1845. He attended through the 1848 school year, but did not graduate. After studies elsewhere, he became a physician and practiced in Princeton, Indiana his entire career, with the exception of his Civil War service. In 1861, he began his war service as surgeon with the 58th Indiana Regiment. Within a few months time, however, he was appointed medical director of the division commanded by General Thomas J. Wood in Tennessee. He served in this capacity for the remainder of the war. Blair died on January 2, 1916.
