Gori, Antonio Francesco, 1691-1757
Variant namesAntonio Francesco Gori was a clergyman, a history teacher and the founder of the Accademia Columbiana in Florence. He left 154 volumes of notes, drawings, dissertations, and more than ten thousand letters from 732 correspondents. His numerous publications are typical for the early 18th century scholar in his possession of a classical erudition with an emphasis on "etruscheria."
