Arthur Norman Holcombe (1884-1977), educator and government official, held teaching posts at Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, the College of Europe, University of California, Stanford University, University of Michigan, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Holcombe's government posts included member of U.S. Bureau of Efficiency from 1917 to 1919, and of President's Committee on Administrative Management in 1936. He was Chair of the Appeals Board for the War Production Board from 1942 to 1945, Chair of the Commission to Study the Organization of Peace (affiliate of United Nations Association) from 1955 to 1964; and Chair of International Commission to Study the Organization of Peace (affiliate of World Federation of United Nations Associations) in 1965.
