Robert Brewster Stanton (1846-1922) was a civil and mining engineer, who as chief engineer of the Denver, Colorado Canyon and Pacific Railroad Co. led a survey party through the Grand Canyon in 1889-1890.
In his work for the railroads and mining companies as a consulting engineer, Stanton's activities included assignments in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. His many projects included work for the Union Pacific Railway Co., Cincinnati Southern Railway Co., Atlantic & Pacific Railroad, Tripple Trip Mining Co., Hoskannini Mining Co., and others.
Stanton's daughter, Anne Stanton Burchard, was married to Lewis Sayre Burchard, a professor at City College. His father, Samuel Dickinson Burchard (1812-1891), was a prominent Presbyterian clergyman in New York City.
