Kenneth Millar, who wrote under the pseudonym Ross Macdonald, was the best-selling author of twelve classic novels of detective fiction featuring the main character Lew Archer. His extensive writings include reviews, short stories, poetry, plays, screenplays, and essays. Millar died in 1983.
