Roald Dahl (b. September 13, 1916, Cardiff, Wales – d. November 23, 1990, Oxford, England) was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, and screenwriter. Born in Wales to Norwegian parents, Dahl served in the Royal Air Force during the World War II as a fighter pilor and intelligence officer. He rose to prominence in the 1940s with works for both children and adults.
