Phoenix Furniture Co. (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
The Phoenix Furniture Co. was established in 1872 by William A. Berkey. In 1920, Robert W. Irwin purchased the plant and formed the Robert W. Irwin Furniture Co. In 1953, the plant was sold to the Stow & Davis Furniture Co. Steelcase purchased Stow & Davis in 1985, and in 1987 they donated athe site and buildings to Grand Valley State University.
