Michael Blake is a former Assembly Member in the New York State Assembly representing the 79th District in The Bronx, New York. In February, 2017 Blake was elected Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. In early 2007, Blake worked on the Obama for America campaign, first as Deputy Political Director and Constituency Outreach Director in Iowa and as Deputy Director and Political Director in Michigan. After the election, Blake joined the White House staff as the Associate Director, White House Office of Public Engagement & Deputy Associate Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Blake left the White House to serve as the national deputy director of Operation Vote for President Obama’s 2012 re-election. Prior to working at the White House, Blake was the Director of External Affairs for the Michigan House of Representatives serving in Michigan Speaker of the House Andy Dillon's cabinet. Blake is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism from Northwestern University. He is also an alumnus of the Yes We Can political training program in Washington, D.C. He started his political career as an assistant for Illinois State Senator Jeff Schoenberg.
