Mansel, William Lort, 1753-1820

William Lort Mansel served as Orator for Oxford University from 1788 to 1798 and as Bishop of Bristol from 1798 to 1820. He was appointed to the latter post by Spencer Perceval, his former pupil. Mansel was known for his wit and was the author of many notable sermons.
