Verdon, George Frederic, Sir, 1834-1896
Variant namesScience patron and politician. Verdon, who was interested in astronomy, was appointed honorary assistant in the Melbourne Observatory, Australia in 1858. Through his political positions he was able to increase funds for the Observatory, F. Mueller, and the National Museum of Victoria.
